Drum Lessons Via Skype

Current Rates

Once we agree on a lesson time, you will be sent an online PayPal invoice. The lesson must be paid for within 24 hours of scheduling to reserve your spot. If there is no payment the lesson will be forfeit. Before contacting me about lessons, please check my "rates and policies" section above to learn about my rules and policies. (Skype lessons are $15 less then at my home studio.) (See my "Rates and Policy" section above)

Benefits of online learning

Learn in your home – Your practice environment is your lesson environment. This will allow you to be more relaxed and at ease. This convenience makes it easier to stick with the lessons and avoid illness and weather related issues. Additionally, this model of lessons fosters a sense of independence much earlier compared to in-person lessons. Students who are regularly searching for their own answers, viewing tutorials online, and possess a basic proficiency in technology make great candidates for online learning. That being said, online lessons do involve a bit more concentration and patience on the student’s end and might not work for everyone, especially younger beginners. For this reason, I do not allow anyone under the age of 10 to study with me through Skype.

What equipment do I need?

1. You will need access to a drum-set (acoustic or electric), if you have an electric drum set you must have it attached to speakers or an amplifier.

2. Reliable internet connection, and Skype-compatible device (Large tablet or a laptop is preferred).

3. Your Skype device must have a camera and microphone. Recent model laptops are ideal, but iPads and iPhones also work well because of their great cameras, mics, and Wi-Fi chipsets.

Generally speaking, larger screens provide a more comfortable experience.

4. You'll need to point the camera from the direction of someone sitting right beside you to your right or from an overhead drum angle.

Payment Policies

Your payment must be processed before lessons can take place. you will be sent an online PayPal invoice. The lesson must be paid for within 24 hours of scheduling to reserve your spot. If there is no payment the lesson will be forfeit until the next lesson. There are no refunds.

At our lesson time you can either call me or be ready to accept my call at the agreed upon time. Your time won’t be extended if you are late, you won't get extra time for calling in early. All lessons cancelled by me will be rescheduled. I have a strict no make-up lesson policy.

Skype Drum Lesson Tips

To maximize the quality of your experience with Skype drum lessons, you will want to be sure your setup is optimal. Follow these tips to ensure your setup is well optimized.

1. If using a wireless connection, try to place your router as close to the lesson area as possible.

2. Be sure your setup has adequate lighting. Most cameras do not function well in dimly lit rooms.

3. Make sure your device and Skype are fully updated before beginning of every lesson.

4. Allow yourself at least 15 minutes before your scheduled lesson to warmup and check for any updates.

5. Quality headphones can improve your experience significantly.

Frequently asked questions

45 minute lessons $150 /monthly
1-hour weekly lessons $200/monthly Want to learn at a faster pace? Skip to question #3.

IMPORTANT: I must receive the fee first before we start lessons, to ensure that both of us are committed to make the lessons happen. As we make our way through each weekly lesson, I will simply subtract from what you have paid, until you need to make the next monthly payment again.

There are no refunds. No make-up lesson policy.

Why have I opted for the “no make-up policy?”
Once upon a time I had an open make-up policy and 20 students, long story short…I found that some students were simply not committed and this hindered new students in the waiting list that were passionate to learn with me... :(
Consider our private lessons as you would consider any other educational institution. If as a student, you miss a lesson, your class will not be made-up and your teacher will not refund your money to you. I promise to offer quality music education and my policies reflect the same. All in all, this “No Make-Up Policy” values both your time and your teacher’s. Plus, it helps you stay on top of your goals and I want to help you stay focused.

NB: It is important to note that our “No Make-Up Policy” does not cover teacher absence. In this case your time would be made-up as your teacher missed the contracted time of your lesson.

Wanting to progress faster? If one week just doesn't cut it, 2 lessons a week may be the perfect option for you. This is perfect for students that want to learn drums at a faster pace. Rates for two lessons per week: 2, 30min lessons weekly/ $200 month. 2, 45 min lessons weekly/ $250 month. 2, 1-hour lessons weekly/ $300 month.
